Spitfire began jazzin' up Asheville, NC in 2004. The band consists of Nick Stubblefield, Keyboard/Vocals, Jordan Harris, Bass, and Heath Towson, Drums, in addition to the Nickorettes when requested, who are Phoebe Stubblefield and Robin Tynes. The band is perfect for your party or event. We can cater to your needs music wise as we are flexible musicians, but we specialize in exciting original jazz, funk, and Latin music. 9.06.06 - Where Spitfire at? (Translation: Where is Spitfire?)

Well, 2/3 of the band are away at college. Nick is studying music composition at UNC-Greensboro, Jordan is at UNC-Chapel Hill studying business. Heath is in his senior year at high school and in the process of deciding on a school. What is the fate of Spitfire? Spitfire will remain together. We hope to continue to make music for a long, long time. Alas, the amount of gigs will slow to a crawl while school is in session, but Spitfire hopes to play again as soon as possible. Updates for major gigs can be emailed to you, if you just send us your email address by emailing Nick at bohunkus@gmail.com and requesting to be on our mailing list.

Thanks to the people at MANNA Food Bank for making the Blue Jean Ball one of our favorite gigs to date. Y'all are awesome! Great crowd! Great food! Thanks again!  

5.06.06 - Rockin' at the Geek Prom '06

Thanks for the incredible turnout at the 2006 Second Annual Geek Prom!! We had a great time, and hope y'all did too. Don't forget to catch Spitfire this Saturday at 1:30 PM at the Isaac Dickson Spring Fling in Asheville. It will feature the full band on an outdoor stage. No cover charge, but come enjoy some food, and fun, especially for the little ones.

Thank you to EVERYONE that came to the Grey Eagle show. Without the fans, we have nothing, you people make all the difference. We had a blast and appreciate all of your support, that was the best crowd we've ever had with about 160  people!

1.28.06 - NEW SITE ENHANCEMENTS, NEW GIG ----

Spitfire's back at the Grey Eagle in Asheville on March 10, 2006 for a show featuring all new numbers and even guest stars! Be sure to make this gig, whether or not you saw us at our last Grey Eagle gig. The show is a double concert with Sharon Lamotte and the Bill Gerhardt Trio. More details on this show will be posted as they arrive.

Be sure to catch us this Sunday, December 11 at the Asheville High School Auditorium as the Asheville Community Band plays their winter concert. Spitfire is a featured guest artist, we even got our name printed on the mail-out cards! Dec. 11, 3.00 pm, hope y'all can make it!

Thanks to our supporters at the Battle of the Bands! It was a blast, and we are pleased to say we will be playing WestFest in Asheville in May 2006, so stay tuned for more information.

Spitfire was jazzin' and "burning" the Grey Eagle on Sunday, October 23!  We had a great turnout of around 50-60 people! Thanks so much to everyone that came and supported us! Thanks also to Sharon LaMotte and the Jazz Composers Forum. Also thanks to recording engineer William Lawrence. Stay tuned to the site for more pictures from the show as we get them.
